Rick began his professional career in Michigan as a teacher at Kearsley Schools and later was a full-time faculty of Oakland University's School of Health Sciences. At Oakland, Rick co-authored a book used as a supplemental text in exercise science classes around the country. (link) He has earned two master's degrees from accredited universities.

Rick has now completed his Master of Photography degree from the Professional Photographers of America (PP of A), an honor earned by only 3% of the 20,000 members of the PP of A. The award ceremony will be held January 2009 in Phoenix, AZ at Imaging USA, the national convention of the PP of A.

Rick has won numerous National Merit Awards in the photographic competitions of the PP of A. He has also won the 97/98 "Top Seven' award from the Professional Photographers of Michigan for being one of the top seven photographers in Michigan. Rick's award-winning photographs include images produced in Hawaii, Florida and Michigan.

Rick's studio is located on ten acres between the towns of Davison and Lapeer, Michigan. The grounds have many beautiful scenes that are used for the outdoor portrait sessions shown in the high school senior and family sections of this web site.

Now in his seventeenth year of professional photography, Rick has continued to study with the best photographers from all over the world. Likewise, Rick teaches his methods to photographers from around the world. He has hosted photographers from states and provinces near and far and from other countries including Australia.

Rick's work has been featured in an article written by Monte Zucker in the February 2003 issue of Professional Photographer, the monthly publication of the PP of A. The article features special lighting techniques of candid photography.
